Facelift, Neck Lift and Forehead Lift
Important Notice
These instructions provide general guidance and may be modified by Dr. Khalid Almutairi according to the procedure, technique, and the patient’s medical condition. If this information differs from the direct instructions or discharge prescription, follow the patient-specific instructions given by the doctor. Do not change a medication dose, stop medication prescribed for a chronic condition, or begin a new treatment without medical guidance.
This information does not replace medical assessment or postoperative follow-up. The plan may include associated procedures such as nano-fat injection or BodyTite; follow the instructions for each treated area if these form part of your procedure.
The First 24–48 Hours
Rest with the head elevated approximately 30–45 degrees using at least two pillows. Avoid sudden bending or extension of the neck, and do not sleep on the face or sides. Keep dressings dry for the first 48 hours or as directed. Do not open or adjust drains. Record their output if asked. Drains are commonly removed after 1–3 days depending on output and the doctor’s assessment.
Compression Garment
Use the face or neck garment according to the discharge instructions. Remove it only for eating, cleaning, or showering if permitted. It should be secure and comfortable and must not cause severe pain or skin discolouration. It may be worn continuously during the first days and then during sleep for several weeks; the exact duration depends on the procedure and discharge instructions.
Cold Compresses and Swelling
Light cold compresses may be used on permitted areas. Do not place ice directly on the skin, press on surgical or fat-injected areas, or use hot compresses.
Wound Care
Clean wounds using the method directed by the doctor. Saline or an antibiotic ointment may be used if included in the plan. Pat dry. Do not pick scabs or remove sutures yourself. Do not massage fat-injected areas unless instructed.
Showering and Hair Washing
Showering and hair washing are commonly allowed after 48–72 hours if permitted by the doctor. Use lukewarm water and gentle shampoo. Avoid hot water, a hot hair dryer, pulling the hair, or pressure on wounds.
Medication and Pain Management
Use medicines according to the discharge prescription. Paracetamol may be used, and ibuprofen may be used if appropriate and permitted, according to the pain-management protocol. Complete an antibiotic if prescribed. Avoid aspirin, blood-thinning medicines, and supplements that may increase bleeding for the period specified by the doctor. Do not stop a chronic medicine or prescribed blood thinner without medical guidance.
Movement and Activity
Begin light movement at home. Avoid bending, lifting, strenuous activity, and exercise until permitted. Do not drive while using medication that causes drowsiness. Do not smoke. Avoid saunas, steam, and high heat.
Make-up and Skin Care
Do not apply make-up over wounds until they are fully closed and the doctor permits it. Skin care may be resumed gradually after approximately 10–14 days if wounds have healed and the doctor approves. Avoid acids, retinol, and exfoliants during healing. Use SPF 50+ sunscreen after permission and commonly avoid direct sun for at least six weeks. Silicone scar care begins only after complete wound healing and medical approval.
Follow-up
Follow-up is commonly scheduled after 3–5 days, during the first or second week, and after 4–6 weeks. Additional reviews may be needed according to drains, wounds, or the doctor’s assessment.
When to Contact the Clinic
Contact the clinic promptly for severe pain or increasing pressure, persistent bleeding, foul-smelling discharge, marked redness, fever above 38.5°C, or abnormal skin colour.
When to Seek Urgent Medical Help
Seek urgent medical assessment for rapid one-sided swelling, new sudden facial weakness, a sudden or significant visual change, or severe eye pain.
