Blepharoplasty
Important Notice
These instructions provide general guidance and may be modified by Dr. Khalid Almutairi according to the procedure, technique, and the patient’s medical condition. Sleeping and Head Elevation
Sleep on your back with your head elevated on two pillows, especially during the first days. Avoid sleeping on your face or applying pressure to the eyes or eyelids until permitted by the doctor.
Cold Compresses and Swelling
Use light cold compresses during the first 24–48 hours if permitted by the doctor. Do not place ice directly on the skin and do not apply pressure to the eye or surgical area. Swelling and bruising are expected and may change during the first days.
Wound Care
Use the prescribed antibiotic ointment in the manner and for the duration specified. Medical petroleum jelly may be used if recommended by the doctor. A hypochlorous-acid wound spray may be used if included in the care plan. Do not rub the wound or remove scabs or sutures. Avoid cosmetics and active skin products on the area during healing.
Medication and Pain Management
Use medicines according to the discharge prescription. Paracetamol may be used, and ibuprofen may be used if appropriate and permitted, according to the pain-management protocol. Do not add a medicine or change a dose yourself.
Activity and Precautions
Avoid bending, lowering the head, strenuous activity, and exercise for the period specified by the doctor. Do not use eye make-up until the wound has healed and the doctor permits it. Do not use contact lenses until permitted. Wear sunglasses outdoors and begin sunscreen only after the skin has healed and the doctor approves.
Pigmentation and Skin Care
Avoid sun and heat during healing. Do not use peels, retinol, or acids on the area. Azelaic acid may be introduced gradually after approximately 10–14 days only if the skin is fully healed and the doctor approves. Stop it and contact the clinic if it causes burning or severe redness.
When to Contact the Clinic
Contact the clinic for increasing redness, purulent discharge, persistent bleeding, or unusual difficulty closing the eye.
When to Seek Urgent Medical Help
Seek urgent medical assessment immediately for severe pain inside the eye, a sudden reduction or change in vision, or rapid one-sided swelling.
